I always thought it ironic that a guy living off a trust fund and elected to the Senate at 30 having never worked a day in his life somehow understood the plight of the common man.

What response would you give to this JW illustration ?
by troubled mind inmy jw in laws send us these types of emails every once in a while .
never is there any real personal correspondence from them and it irritates me.
i have sent emails back before critiquing the logic of some of their emails.. i will be sending a response to this latest one ,and i would appreciate some ideas .. i know many of you on this forum are so excellant with your words i would enjoy your input .. the first thing that came to my mind after i read the illustration was "i am so glad i am no longer on the endless tread mill of witness logic that has you running forever from scary imaginary spirit beings ".

Why put on the "armor of God" if you are just going to turn and run?

The law didn't indicate didn't indicate an abundant supply of 60-year olds, it is an indication of the desperation of the ones who wrote the law.

The illustration in the OP is completely divorced from reality. A rabbit would never be more than 50-75 feet from its burrow.

this week's "Bible Study"
by stillin init started with the comparison of "porneia" (all sexual practices outside of marriage) being a ploy of satan, as a "lure" that a fisherman uses to catch "fish.
" all kinds of comments were made regarding internet porn, adultery, oral sex, etc, all being a device designed to trap jehovah's people, resulting in thier spiritual demise.
i still have commenting priveleges, so i felt it necessary to mention live bait also having a "hook.

People are surprised to find out that my wife and I have been married for 20 years. We love each other more and are more dedicated to each other now than ever. We are in no way bored with each other. I hope that the following thoughts are helpful.
Love is not an emotion. It is a decision. People who say they "fell out of love with" someone make me wonder if they ever truly loved them in the first place. Often we love the attributes of a person rather than the person themself.
Love is not the mushy feeling described in romance novels as Lars sweeps Maryjane off her feet with his rippling muscles and they ride on a bareback horse down the beach into the sunset.
Love is looking after each others' well being through Hell or high water. A good marriage is not the absence of conflict or disagreements. It is a matter of how conflict and disagreements are resolved. My wife and I function together like a well oiled machine. I could not function without her.
I do agree that young folks too often get married for the wrong reasons. They often date a person that they do not consider marriage material only to find themself married once they have become emotionally attached. I used pretty much the same approach in finding a wife as I do buying a car. If there was something about a gal that I knew was unacceptable or incompatable, I would never think of asking her for a date. Why waste time on someone that would not be a good match for me? Many of these women made fine wives for someone else, just not me.
My wife is the only one that I have ever so much as kissed. That was only after we decided to get married. Getting physical only gets in the way of figuring out if the person has what it takes to be a good mate. Too often, people confuse lust with love. Neither my wife or I have ever regretted the decision for a moment to delay sex for marriage.

To any ex JW's in Aloholic's Anonomous
by digderidoo ini know there's a handful here.. could you pm me to get in touch or respond to this thread.
for any who have my email or facebook listing could you contact me as i have some questions with regards to how you have worked step 3.. i am at a place now where i am wondering if aa is going to work for me anymore, 18 months in and i seem to be going around in circles on step 3 and could do with a bit of advice from those of you who can identify with this.
it's not just the god thing, it's also the idea of 'handing your will over', i just cannot conceive the idea of handing my will over to something else as i've done that for years as a jw.

The key is to find a group in your area that you are comfortable with. Talk with the ones that are genuine in their efforts to recover - unfortunately, there are many in these groups that are putting on a show for what ever reason. After you have been to a meeting a few times you will figure out which people are genuine.
Go to different meetings. Try other 12 step programs, they all have the same basics.

John 6:20 & John 8:58
by PSacramento inthe often ( at least from the nwt point of view) debated verse of john 8:58. jesus said to them, truly, truly i say to you, before abraham was, i am.. also translated "verily, verily," or "most asuredly", but always "i am", excpet for the nwt that translates it:.
before abraham came into existence, i have been.. now i am sure that there have been thread about this and how the words used in 8:58 - ego eimi mean:.
ego = i, me, my.

Because they can't allow the word of God to contradict their theology.

The letter will probably find its way to certain individuals who are already questioning. It will be a God send for them.
